Pit Rescue of
the Great Plain - Memorials
In
Memory of Kenya
from our Rescue Founders
We
remember Kenya (the dog who motivated us to start Pit
Rescue of the Great Plains) will be waiting for us at
Rainbow Bridge. While Kenya is no longer with us in
body, her spirit guides us to continue to save other
Pits Bulls. Her days on earth were short, and mostly
painful. Some don't know how Kenya endured the physical
and emotional cruelty she suffered. But Kenya survived,
and Pit Rescue of the Great Plains knows this happened
for a reason. She demonstrated tremendous strength
during rehab and Kenya entertained us with her silly
antics. We miss her, but the prolonged abuse and neglect
she suffered, couldn't be healed. Now all we have to
hold onto is all that Kenya taught us about this
incredible breed and gives us the strength to save other
needy pits.
In
Memory of Taurus
from Brian A.
Summer 1994-Fall 2005
This
donation to Pit Rescue of the Great Plains is made in
memory of Taurus, my best friend, my companion, my
brother and my son of 11 beautiful years, who died of
cancer on October 15, 2005. He was an incredible animal
with the will to do anything imaginable, impractical,
and sometimes seemingly impossible...memories that will
last a lifetime. It is my pleasure to make a donation in
the honor of Taurus, for the kind and loving deeds that
Pit Rescue has done for such a special yet misunderstood
and often mistreated breed of dog, the American Pit Bull
Terrier. With love to all the Pits of the world and
those fortunate enough to share the experience of their
companionship.
In
Memory of Roxi
from Deborah Hodges Driscoll
February 15, 1994 to June 6, 2006
Our beautiful girl Roxi loved her life, her family. She
was my best friend and knew all of my secrets and still
loved me in spite of them. She loved to give kisses and
hugs and would wiggle her whole body when she was happy
to see you. She was never mistreated or abused, she
lived a joyful and happy life with me from the time of
her birth until the time of her death as a result of
Lymphoma. When it was time to go she went peacefully in
the care of our Vet Doctor Todd Carr and his loving
assistant Lindsey. While she was held by Tim and I. We
are thankful to have had such wonderful people to care
for our special girl.
Rainbow Bridge
Author Unknown
Just this side of heaven
is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies
that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for
all of our special friends so they can run and play
together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,
and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the
animals who had been ill and old are restored to health
and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole
and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams
of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and
content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when
one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His
bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly
he begins to run from the group, flying over the green
grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have
been spotted, and when you and your special friend
finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion,
never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon
your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and
you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your
heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
